Would like to thank Dora and the 'behind the scenes' team for their tireless work rescuing and rehoming. We lost our brave boy in July after almost 18 years and said we'd not have another cat, but after 2 months of an empty home we caved in and decided we'd adpot a rescue. We found the charity and looked for a suitable furry friend, and found one! Dora was really helpful and supportive, she guided us through the process, answered our many questions and we're really happy with our new family member. She has settled really well, already been on her first holiday with us and is the life of our home. Thanks Dora and team, you do great work, much appreciated

Hi Neil,

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It truly means a lot to me and to everyone working behind the scenes. We’re all so grateful that you chose to adopt from us, especially after losing your beloved boy of 18 years. Opening your home and heart again is never easy, and it’s wonderful to know that your new family member has brought joy back into your home.

I’m really glad I could support you through the process, and hearing how well she has settled — even joining you on her first holiday — absolutely made my day. Knowing she is loved, safe, and thriving is exactly why we do this work.

Thank you again for giving her such a wonderful home and for taking the time to share your experience. It’s deeply appreciated.

I want to give a cat a home and it seems I would be turned down by because I am not prepared to keep him/her cooped up inside even though we live in the middle of nowhere with virtually no cars passing our house which is on a single track lane. Would you also turn down my sister who has a farm with just one drive leading to it with no road within a mile. You presumably have hundreds of cats you urgently need to rehome and it seems narrow minded of you to turn down a 5* home because of your rigid rules

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand why you feel strongly about offering a cat a home, and it’s clear you care deeply about their wellbeing.

Our rescue works with cats who come from extremely harsh outdoor environments, where they have suffered greatly. For their safety and long‑term welfare, we have a strict policy of rehoming only as indoor cats, or to homes with a secure catio or fully enclosed garden. We do not place our cats in free‑roaming outdoor situations, even in very quiet or rural areas.

This policy is based on the specific backgrounds and vulnerabilities of the cats we rescue, and it is something we apply consistently. We know that many other organisations rehome cats who can safely go outdoors, and one of those may be a better match for what you are looking for.

I’m sorry to hear that you are disappointed with this decision, but we must prioritise the safety and needs of the cats in our care. I truly appreciate your willingness to offer a loving home, even if our policies don’t align in this case.
