HOW TO ADOPT

All the information you'll need to take you on your adoption journey with us and your cat on its journey to a new home

Adoption Procedures

Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions hope that you enjoy looking through our available cats and that you find one, or maybe even two, that appeal to you. Here we have the basic details of our adoption process.

1.  We adopt to UK, Europe,  US and Canada

Our adoption fees are based on the cost of the flight ticket for your cat. These vary by country but normally it is 250 Euro for European countries, approximately £360 for the UK and $250 Canadian. The cost to the US varies with the State.

2. Once you have found a cat in which you are interested please complete the Adoption Enquiry Form which will go direct to our email.  Please tell us a little about yourself, including what other pets you have, which country you come from and remember to include the name of the cat.   For enquiries please contact us by using the Send buttons. Note there is are separate send buttons below for general enquiries about adoption to our Team members in Europe and the UK and North America

3.  A member of the Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions team will contact you as soon as possible but this may not be until the next day.  We will then be able to answer any questions you have regarding the cat in which you are interested.

4.  If you find that you have made a good match and decide that you want to proceed we will ask for your address and telephone number and arrange to carry out a home check with one of our volunteers either in person or via video call.

5. Our home checker will contact you to make an appointment to visit or FaceTime you.  Following your home check someone will contact you a day or so later to let you know if you have been successful in and you will be asked to sign the adoption questionnaire/contract. A copy of the questionnaire/contract can be found here.

6. At this point we will request  £100 reservation fee.  You will then have a seven day cooling off period after which time the reservation fee will be non-refundable.  The reservation fee will then form part of the adoption fee.

7. Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions will then make arrangements for the cat to travel on a mutually agreed date.  All travel arrangements are made by them. Flights to the UK are via Heathrow only and from there they are taken to our Team Member in West London.  You will need to collect your cat from there at your own expense.  The extra flight costs for cats travelling to the UK include compliance with Defra regulations and this compliance is ensured by Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions on the adopter's behalf. Cats travelling to EU countries travel with a flight parent whose costs are included in the adoption fee.  Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions try to ensure that a flight parent is found swiftly but in some circumstances there may be a delay in finding one.   Adopters must then collect their cat from the chosen airport.

8. The balance of the adoption fee is due in full to Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions one week before travel.  For adoptions to the EU you will be put in contact with a flight parent who will liaise with you directly regarding the travel.

9. Adopters will receive a copy of their cat's Passport which includes its vaccination and health record on collection of their animal. A copy of it can be found here.

Cairo Cat Rescue & Rehoming Champions are happy to answer any further questions you may have regarding  adoptions that are not covered here.  Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
